This is a video of Waiters Bow. This is a useful exercise and a good movement pattern to adopt in everyday life if you have low back pain and are having trouble bending forward. At Health Moves Physiotherapy in Edwardstown and Mawson Lakes its a technique we teach often. Maintain the lumbar lordosis, that backwards C shape in the small of your back as you bend from your hips, and not your lumbar spine. If you have low back pain you may find it useful to put your hands on a bench top to take some weight while you start. Its okay to bend your knees too if that helps. Allow your hips and pelvis to drift back as you bend over, this will keep your centre of gravity over your feet, and further unload your spine.
